A Brief Introduction to the Second Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University

The Second Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University, located in Urumqi, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, is a provincial Class A tertiary comprehensive hospital, integrating medical treatment, teaching, research, rehabilitation, prevention and health care. Its predecessor, established in 1954, was "the First Hospital of Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps of Xinjiang Military Region". It was renamed "the Second People's Hospital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region" in 1975, "the Second Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University" in 1978, "the Second Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University" in 1998, and "the Second Clinical Medical College of Xinjiang Medical University" in 2002. The present address of the hospital is No. 38, North 2nd Lane, Nanhu East Road, Shuimogou District, Urumqi. The hospital, covering an area of 17.342 hectares, with a total building area of 103447.61 square meters, offers 800 beds, 60 clinical departments, 14 medical technology departments and 15 teaching and research departments, and three community health service centers, including the School Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University (Hemaquan New District Community Health Service Center), South Nanhu Community Health Service Center and South Hubei Community Health Service Center.

At present, there are 7 key clinical specialties of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, 4 key disciplines in the hospital, 6 training disciplines in the hospital, 1 national post-doctoral research workstation, the key laboratory of neurological diseases research of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, and 11 disciplines authorized to offer doctoral degree programs, 24 disciplines authorized to offer master degree programs, and 14 national standardized residency training centers It is the national drug clinical trial agency (GCP). In recent years, the hospital has taken the CPC's political construction as the principle, the performance appraisal of Class A tertiary public hospitals as the guidance, discipline construction as the core, talent team construction, technical innovation and information construction as the base, and integrated the advantages of resources to application for the National Regional Medical Center for Neurological Diseases (Xiangya Hospital of Central South University, Xinjiang Hospital) project. It has been listed as a "counseling" project by the National Development and Reform Commission of PRC and The People’s Government of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

At present, the hospital has 15 university-level, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region-level, and national medical centers. They are the "Neurosurgery Construction Center" of the National Health Commission of PRC, the National Advanced Stroke Center, the Chest Pain Center, the National Advanced Center for Parkinson's Disease and Movement Disorders, the Clinical Medical Research Center for Nervous System Diseases, the Xinjiang Deafness Prevention and Hearing Reconstruction Center, the Xinjiang Joint and Peripheral Nerve Disease Diagnosis and Treatment Center, and the National Clinical Medical Research Center for Mental and Psychological Diseases (Branch Center of Xinjiang), National Clinical Medical Research Center for Geriatric Diseases (Xinjiang Branch Center), Basin-Related Disease Diagnosis and Treatment and Training Center of Tongji Hospital of Tongji University (Branch Center of Xinjiang), Xinjiang Regional Center for Tele-Pathology of Xiangya Hospital Central South University, Clinical Diagnosis and Treatment Center of Neurology and Brain, Cardiac Rehabilitation Center, Rehabilitation Center, and Sleep Study Center of Xinjiang Medical University.

At present, it has 4 bases, including "Surgical Basic Skills Improvement Project Training Base", National Qualification Base for Diagnosis and Treatment of Various Critical Diseases in Neurology Department, Surgical Basic Skills Improvement Project Training Base, and the Xinjiang Base of National Cerebral Vascular Health Management Internet of Things. It is a member unit of China National Clinical Research Center for Neurological Diseases-Neurological Specialist Alliance, the National Alliance for Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Diseases, the Chinese Parkinson's Prevention and Treatment Alliance, the Western Parkinson's Prevention and Treatment Alliance, the Chinese Parkinson's Disease-Parkinson's Disease Chronic Disease Management Platform, the National Standardization Center for Parkinson's Disease and the National Clinical Research Center for Geriatric Disease Comprehensive Assessment and Management Lead and other alliance member units.

The hospital continues to expand its network in the medical field, signing medical alliance cooperation agreements with more than 60 hospitals in Xinjiang, and branding Xinjiang neuro-brain center of neurodegenerative diseases, cerebrovascular diseases, neurocritical diseases and other subspecialties.

The hospital has successively won the national "Demonstration Hospitals of Healthcare Improvement Initiative", "Typical Case Award for High-quality Development of Public Hospitals", "Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Advanced Collective for Epidemic Prevention and Control", "National Demonstration Hospitals Credible for the People", and "Advanced Collective" for the National Publicity Work.
